Welcome to the Polo
Clinical Research Study!
This clinical research study is for children ages 7 – 17 who have Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation (IBS-C).
To qualify for the Polo Clinical Research Study, your child must meet these criteria that are consistent with Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation (IBS-C):
What makes IBS-C different from Functional Constipation is abdominal pain. You may even have taken your child to the doctor because of abdominal pain – maybe more than once. Sometimes this pain gets better after your child has a bowel movement. Also, when the pain started, either the frequency or the appearance of the bowel movement may have changed.
If your child participates in the Polo Clinical Research Study, they will visit the Study Doctor’s office approximately 6 times in 12 weeks. The study will last approximately 9-12 weeks. Your child will be asked to complete an eDiary two times each day. You can complete the diary for your child, instead. The study staff will teach both of you to use the study diary.
Study participants will receive study-related exams, lab tests, and investigational study medication at no charge. Your child’s health will be carefully monitored by the Study Nurse and Doctor. This is the study staff’s most important job in the study.
